We’ll work with you to make the process simple and clear, so you can focus on enjoying meaningful, personalized sessions without any surprises.

How often are services provided?

The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) collaborates with clients, families, and care teams to determine the appropriate frequency and duration of sessions. Most sessions are scheduled 1–2 times per week, with length and intensity tailored to individual goals. Clients may also choose ongoing services to support an active aging lifestyle. Recreational therapy can help maintain current functioning and independence, as well as develop new skills to enhance overall well-being.

Social
Skills

Our social skills one-on-one sessions and groups provide a supportive, engaging environment where older adults with disabilities can build meaningful connections, practice communication, and enhance social confidence. Through structured activities, games, and collaborative projects, participants strengthen interpersonal skills, reduce isolation, and enjoy opportunities for friendship and connection in a fun, inclusive setting.

What goals can be addressed?

Recreational therapy supports participants in staying active, engaged, and connected across five key areas: Physical, Emotional, Social, Cognitive, and Spiritual. Together, we create short and long term goals based on each person’s abilities and interests. Activities are designed to address a range of skills, including maintaining strength and mobility, stimulate memory and problem-solving, boost mood and self-expression, and foster meaningful social connections. Sessions also help participants practice daily living skills, promoting independence, confidence, and a sense of purpose, all while having fun and enjoying life.

Sensory
Stimulation

Our sensory-focused recreation therapy sessions are designed for individuals with limited engagement, including those in hospice care. Using gentle, multi-sensory activities, such as touch, sound, sight, and scent. These sessions provide calming, meaningful experiences that promote comfort, connection, and moments of joy, tailored to each participant’s abilities and preferences.

Who provides services?

Services are provided by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), credentialed by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. Recreational therapists are skilled healthcare professionals who use a systematic process, evidence-based interventions, and purposeful activities to support participant goals. All therapists hold a bachelor’s degree, and many have advanced to master’s-level training.
